Everyday,
once a day, you can guarantee you’ll hear at least one person complaining about
their feet, they hurt, they’re wet, they’re sore. I used to be one of them
people, until I met my friend, Doc Martens. When I think of vintage shoes, Docs
are the first things that come to mind. I’d talk to my grandad about them and he’d
give me the old ‘when I was a lad’ or my dad and his ‘I always wanted a pair.’
They truly are desirable shoes aren’t they? The day I bought my first pair, I
fell in love. I no longer have wet/cold/achy feet, I now have beautiful feet.
There are docs for every occasion, even a wedding if you can find some striking
enough (which shouldn’t be too hard.)
When I wear ‘other’ shoes I’m just a normal person, as soon as I put on a pair of Docs I’m a fashion icon. ‘Did you see her shoes?’ ‘ I want some’ ‘wow.’ If you are a Doc virgin, you may look at a pair, look at the price and be totally put off. However, me and all the Doc Martens wearers/lovers (if you wear them you most definitely love them) can assure you it is ABSOLUTELY worth it. They last a lifetime, maturing and getting more attractive with age. The only down side, for me, is the laces. Who gives shoes laces that are too short? Where is the point in that?! Fortunately for me, I replace all my laces with ribbon. Pretty and original. What is your favorite vintage shoe? Feel free to send me a photo!
